5+ years of experience as a technical communicator or writer with demonstrated proficiency. Experience working in a software development environment is preferred. Experience in the banking, financial services, or healthcare industries is a plus. The Technical Communicator / Writer analyzes, develops, and manages ARGO documentation for delivery to customers and implementation projects as defined by the Technical Communicator Lead or Content Strategy Manager. Accountability for online edits and print communications. This position will be worked from the Richardson, TX, corporate office with no remote work option.

EDUCATION:
A completed Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, STEM fields of study or related fields

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
  • Developing documentation plan and development schedule for identified documentation projects
  • Managing documentation projects effectively to meet deadlines and quality standards
  • Proactively escalating project issues, roadblocks, and scope changes as they occur
  • Working with ARGO subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop documentation that meets established ARGO quality metrics
  • Writing, editing, and publishing documentation in the appropriate medium
  • Provide editing support for assigned documents
  • Practicing established documentation development and maintenance practices as set forth in the ARGO Technical Writing Style Guide
  • Gathering information from internal resources through product demonstrations, project tracking systems, interviews, emails, or phone calls
  • Developing working relationships with other internal groups to aid in developing and maintaining documentation
  • Research changes to documentation and update existing documents, as required
  • Soliciting feedback for measuring documentation effectiveness
  • Conducting user/task analysis to determine documentation requirements with direction from Team Lead
  • Advising other departments on user interface and writing standards
  • Understanding, supporting, and applying effective documentation development and maintenance practices, including the use and continuous improvement of stated processes, procedures, and standards

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Proficient in MadCap Flare (or similar help authoring tools), Adobe Acrobat Professional, Microsoft Office Professional Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio)
  • Experience using Microsoft Visio and graphics or image capture tools ( ex: SnagIt )
  • Experience with HTML5, CSS, XML, and/or GIT are pluses for this role
  • Exemplary writing skills
  • Complex software, marketing content writer background is a huge plus
  • Writing and editing: able to communicate information effectively to customers, technical staff, managers, executives, sales and marketing teams.
  • English language: Thorough knowledge of the English language including grammar, spelling, and usage
  • Technical communication standards and practices: Adhere to standard technical communication processes
  • Technical: Apply the most appropriate technology for the documentation type
  • Information gathering: Understand information gathering, analysis, design, verification, and management practices and apply them effectively
  • Demonstrate information gathering techniques and apply them to the software development life cycle
  • Information organization skills: Arrange and classify multiple pieces of information effectively
  • Synthesis/reorganization: Organize information for a better approach to problems or tasks
  • Analytical: Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, and break down complex information into accessible concepts appropriate to the audience
  • Interviewing and questioning skills: Talk with individuals and groups about their needs and ask probing questions to gather pertinent content.
  • Active listening: Use active listening techniques to gather information and delve deeper for more information
  • Active learning: Work with new information to grasp its implications
  • Speaking: Clearly and concisely convey information to others for effective communication
  • Observational: Use observation techniques to determine other sources of data for information gathering
  • Work effectively, either in a team or independently, with supervision
