This position is supported by a research grant from the National Science Foundation ( NSF ) Hispanic Serving Institution ( HSI ) program and entails conducting qualitative empirical research. An ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented and have strong qualitative, preferably including graduate coursework in qualitative methods. Candidates with previous qualitative research experience related to counter-stories or counter-narratives and qualitative data analysis methods and approaches will have priority in the hiring process. The initial appointment will be for one year, but renewable up to three years as funding remains available.Job Duties:Research

Co-lead all aspects of project management, qualitative data collection and analyses, manuscript preparation and dissemination of research findings.

Conduct STEM+C education and workforce research.

Facilitate research group meetings, conferences, and workshops with collaborating researchers from Hispanic Serving Institutions and Historically Black Colleges and Universities in Texas.

Visit and conduct research in collaboration with community partners and gain experience conducting community-engaged, participatory STEM+C research in communities of color.

Teaching

Serve as an instructor of record of undergraduate and graduate courses in interdisciplinary studies, STEM and/or computer science education.

Teach qualitative research methodology.

Participate in curriculum development including online courses.

Teach courses online, on campus (San Marcos or Round Rock), and off campus.

Mentor undergraduate researchers in a service-learning course. Supervise interdisciplinary internships, practicums, and research projects.

Service

Engage in activities at the department, college, and university level that build relationships with other university departments, local businesses, and community organizations as well as participating in professional organizations.

Engage in service activities with education, STEM and computer science professional and academic organizations.

Required Qualifications

Earned doctorate degree in education, engineering education, computer science education, STEM education, workforce development, interdisciplinary studies, or related field by appointment date.

Evidence of qualitative research experience related to counter-stories or counter-narratives.

Experience teaching students in online and on-campus environments

Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative relationships with stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

Training in qualitative research

Experience conducting a qualitative study

Teaching experience in higher education
