ACTIVITY COORDINATOR
The duties of an activities Coordinator range from planning activities and outings to participating with residents in music, art and physical movement. The coordinator must ensure patient safety and should structure activities in accordance with the abilities of the group as a whole. Coordinators may be required to assist residents as they complete tasks.
Morale
The activities coordinator must have a positive, upbeat personality with a strong desire to keep senior citizens occupied and energetic.The activities coordinator should plan daily fun tasks for the residents that will stimulate their mind and lift their spirits.
Stimulating Activities
The activities coordinator must make certain to include a wide range of stimulating activities for residents. Activity plans should include music, art, crafts, drama and exercise programs.
Group Activities
Many seniors enjoy socializing and engaging in activities within a group. The activities coordinator should encourage card games or group exercise classes. Coordinators should also illicit feedback from the group about types of activities they enjoy and would like to try. Some preschools work with geriatric centers, pairing young children with older adults to color or play games.
