The ideal candidate for this position may also come from a background in a school cafeteria, corporate lunchroom, or restaurant that serves a buffet-style meal. The menu here is from scratch. Including some of the entrees that we all ate growing up like chicken fried steak, meatloaf, or fried catfish.
The candidate will not only be responsible for cooking but also, for inventory, cleaning, and dishes. This is an opportunity for the right person to completely take charge of and operate their own kitchen while making a difference daily.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for preparation of all meals, snacks, and special diet items.
Responsible for following all state and local health codes
Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment
Responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory of all food items
Responsible for following the direction of the Dietary Director
Qualifications:
Must be able to speak, read, and follow instructions in English
Must be knowledgeable in, and practice safe food handling procedures. A Texas Food Managers Certification is a plus but not required for the right candidate
Must be organized and able to maintain a clean, organized work environment
Must be able to prepare, cook, and serve all meals in a timely manner.
Must pay attention to quality and presentation of meals served.
