Direct Care Staff
Department: Residential Reports to: Home Manager
OVERVIEW: Provide consumers with assistance and support necessary for the consumer to complete personal care, health maintenance and independent living tasks; participate in community activities and develop, retain and improve community living skills.

and are not intended to be a complete list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned.
1. Provide continuous on-going active treatment by supporting all areas of program training, operations and overall needs of the consumer and the group home.
2. Provide transportation for consumers, via company vehicles and maintain status to legally operate company vehicles. (You must have a valid/current Texas Drivers License Essential enabling you to drive at all times).
3. Ensure the rights of the consumer, treating them with dignity and respect.
4. Complete all documentation required for consumers and company vehicles.
5. Know and comply with all company policies/guidelines per the policy and Employee Handbook/Guide books.
6. Conduct all matters in a professional and mature manner while representing the company.
7. To stay alert and awake while on duty, ensuring a safe and clean living environment at all times.
8. Model and enforce all needs of consumers and group home operations by “leading by example”.
9. Attend all in-services/training as scheduled to meet the needs of the Group Home, Consumer and Regency Community Services, Inc.
10. Communicate timely all consumer, home and vehicle needs to the House Manager.
11. Assist/monitor all self-medication passes and the performance of tasks delegated by the Nurse.
Immediately notify the nursing staff when an error is found or occurs.
12. Encourage and support consumers to be active in community events, outings and opportunities. Facilitate social interaction and socially valued behavior. Give consumers a choice of activities.
13. Ensure menus and diets are followed.
14. Complete training within 30 days of being hired.
Operational Principles - Ability to work within the team, understand your own responsibilities and limits and refer to relevant internal departments for action or assistance when required. Work collaboratively as a team member with all relevant key stakeholders.
Standard of Compliance – Work schedule as set by Home Manager. Attend all In-service and continuing education/training required or indicated by the Company.
Minimum Qualifications - Maintain a current/valid Texas Drivers License, Two years experience in Direct Care and leadership experience preferred, 21 years of age.
Physical Demands - Employee is frequently require to stand, walk, use hands or fingers, reach with hands and arms, feel, see, talk and hear. Employee is occasionally exposed to other body fluids, fumes, or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Employee must have sufficient physical strength and ability to lift/support and average person, if necessary. Duties will require you to be alert at all times. It is important for you to be able to mentally access yourself, your environment and the status of others.
