Home Health Aide / Caregiver – Free Guest House in Exchange for Care
About Us
My mom was diagnosed with dementia last summer, and I want to keep her at home rather than move her into a nursing facility. I’ve been her primary caregiver but now need extra help. To support this, we are offering a private, fully furnished guest house on our property in Alamo Heights in exchange for part-time caregiving.
This may be an unusual posting, but I truly love my mom and want the best care possible for her. We hope this arrangement could be mutually beneficial for someone with the right experience who also needs a safe, comfortable place to stay.
Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable caregiver (ideally with a nursing background or dementia care experience) to provide 3-4 hours of daily support, 5 days per week, for my mom.
What We Offer
Free private guest house on our property (Furnished but can be unfurnished).
All utilities included (gas, electric, water, internet).
Full kitchen, living/dining area, bedroom, bathroom, and separate entrance.
A quiet, safe retreat in Alamo Heights.
Key Responsibilities
Personal Care Assistance: Gentle help with daily hygiene, bathing, dressing, or grooming as needed.
Companionship: Spending time together—my mom enjoys movies, sewing, and crafts.
Medication Reminders: Assisting with medication schedules as directed.
Light Housekeeping: Helping with laundry, dishes, and tidying her living area.
Observation & Reporting: Monitoring her condition and letting family know of any changes.
Qualifications
Previous experience as a caregiver, home health aide, or nurse’s aide (dementia care preferred).
Compassionate, patient, and trustworthy demeanor.
References required.
CPR/First Aid certification A plus.
Must be able to pass a background check.
Compensation
Private guest house with all utilities included (room and board).
