Traffic Control Flagger
Pay Range: Based on industry standard and experience
Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday, nights and weekends as needed.
Position Summary: The position of Traffic Control Flagger will be to monitor, direct and if necessary, reroute the flow of traffic on and around the construction site. May help assemble, position, and clean devices and equipment used to direct traffic. Work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision.
Job Duties:
Direct traffic in or around a construction site.
Use signs or devices to direct traffic.
Help assemble, position, and clean devices or equipment used to direct traffic.
Learn and understand all safety hazards related to the work.
If unsure about any aspect of the work or issues regarding safe practices, ask a supervisor before continuing.
Learn to safely and effectively use or operate work related tools and equipment.
Look for opportunities for improvement in all tasks, means and methods regarding the work and be willing to learn from others.
Produce high quality work, safely and productively at all times.
Provide feedback to ensure all materials, tools, equipment, and information is available for the work.
Job Requirements:
Effectively communicate with the public.
Have the ability to take direction from Traffic Control Lead and Supervisor as well as contractor employees.
Communicate with contractors and relate specific customer/job changes, and other information to Supervisor, Project Manager, office staff or other persons.
Operate a 2-way radio.
Maintain positive working relationships with all members of the team.
Provide highest level of customer service to all customers.
Excellent attendance required, dependable transportation, good work ethic.
May require certain training level of training by TxDOT specifications.
Have a valid Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements:
May be required to work 12+ hour shifts performing construction-based labor in varying temperature extremes and conditions.
May be required to lift and carry items weighing no more than 50 lbs.
Must be able to adequately hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, alarms, and other job-related noises.
Must be able to perform the following actions to the frequency stated: sit, stand, walk, drive, squat, kneel, bend and twist.
Must have full range of motion consistent with age.
Must possess enough strength and stamina to perform the responsibilities and duties as identified above.
Visual acuity, depth perception and color discrimination consistent with that required to work at heights and on uneven surfaced.
