Lead Mechanic
Hours of Operation
This is a full-time, hourly job. Monterrey Iron & Metal’s hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm and Saturday, 8:00am to 12:00pm.
Required Skills
SIS Experience
CAT ET experience
Ability to operate heavy equipment
Skilled at mechanical, minor electrical repairs
Ability to recognize maintenance issues prior to failures that cause significant unplanned downtime
An understanding of tools and how to use them
Ability to read complex machine schematics and reference documents
Well versed in Excel, Word. Experience with Microsoft Teams and Planner, a plus
At ease with walkie talkie, tablet, pc and smart phone use
Ability to lead a team to prioritize
Excellent communication and organization skills
Process oriented
Familiarity with manufacturing environment and prioritization/urgency that goes with that.
Ability to recognize talents of others
Experience in creating PM schedules and crew organization

The primary goal of this position is to achieve best operating/maintenance in all facets of the operation. Thereby providing the highest quality product safely, effectively and efficiently.
Plan maintenance tasks to assure quality inspection and reporting process
Participate actively in the process of diagnosis and repair
Assist with planning and prioritizing of maintenance tasks and coordinate downtime repair
Schedule for major projects or overhauls including manpower, equipment, downtime and timeline
Participate in regular meetings and information gathering with full team
Stay organized, be punctual and maintain open communication as this is a team environment
Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines
Conserves mobile maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems on support, production & maintenance equipment in the recycling industry
Repair and replace damaged or worn parts on mobile equipment
Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
Operate and inspect fleet or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
Repairs and assesses malfunctions, rebuilds and performs maintenance on recycling equipment to include, but not limited to: cranes, front end loaders, forklifts, skid steer, telehandlers, material handlers, OTR Fleet, rail support equipment, support vehicles, mobile service & support equipment and implements such as grapples and buckets
