Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of both
the shipping and receiving departments in a manufacturing environment,
ensuring the accurate and timely dispatch of custom-built signs and receipt of materials.
This critical role involves managing a team, coordinating with production, quality control,
and inventory management teams, and implementing best practices to optimize
efficiency and accuracy in both shipping and receiving operations. The Shipping and
Receiving Supervisor plays a key role in the overall success of the operation, ensuring
smooth logistics for manufacturing, maintaining high standards of safety and quality,
and fostering collaboration across departments.
Essential Responsibilities:
Supervise and manage the daily operations of the shipping and receiving
departments in a manufacturing environment, including scheduling, assigning
tasks, and monitoring team performance.
Ensure the accurate and timely shipment of custom-built signs and the efficient
receipt and inspection of materials, meeting strict production deadlines and
customer requirements.
Collaborate closely with production, quality control, inventory management, and
procurement teams to ensure seamless coordination, communication, and
material flow across departments.
Implement and enforce shipping and receiving procedures and best practices
tailored to a manufacturing environment, continuously seeking ways to improve
efficiency, accuracy, and reduce errors.
Train, mentor, and develop staff in both shipping and receiving areas, fostering a
culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement in a hands-on
manufacturing setting.
Monitor and maintain shipping and receiving equipment, ensuring that all tools
and machinery are in good working condition and meet safety standards.
Prepare and maintain accurate records of all shipments and receipts, including
tracking information, shipping costs, receiving logs, and any issues or
discrepancies, particularly related to custom orders.
Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to shipping or receiving, working
proactively to prevent future occurrences, particularly in the handling of unique or
custom-built signs.
Manage inventory levels for shipping and receiving supplies, ensuring that all
necessary materials are available when needed to meet production and shipping
deadlines. Conduct regular performance reviews, providing feedback and setting goals for
team members to ensure continuous improvement.
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company policies,
promoting a safe and productive work environment in a fast-paced manufacturing
setting.
Job Specifications:
Education, Experience, Certifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in logistics,
supply chain management, or a related field is a plus.
3-5 years of experience in a shipping, receiving, or logistics role in a
manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
Strong knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures, freight management,
inventory management, and relevant software systems, particularly in
environments that handle custom-built or assembled products.
