The Body and Paint Technician is responsible for repairing, refinishing, and restoring vehicles to their original condition after collision damage or wear. This includes bodywork, dent removal, surface preparation, color matching, and applying paint finishes according to manufacturer and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect damaged vehicles and determine repair needs.
Remove and replace damaged body panels, parts, and trim.
Perform dent repair, filling, sanding, and surface preparation.
Mix, match, and apply paint to vehicles using spray guns and other equipment.
Mask and tape off vehicle sections for painting.
Polish and buff painted surfaces to achieve high-quality finishes.
Ensure proper curing and drying of painted surfaces.
Maintain tools, spray booths, and work areas in clean, safe condition.
Follow manufacturer specifications and safety procedures.
Communicate with estimators, parts personnel, and management regarding repair progress.
Perform final inspections to ensure quality control and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred).
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in automotive body repair and painting (apprenticeships accepted).
Strong knowledge of collision repair techniques, refinishing materials, and tools.
Ability to operate frame machines, spray guns, and sanding equipment.
Attention to detail and color accuracy.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
