About the Position:
A Journeyman Glazier is responsible for assisting with foreman overall management in the installation of glass, storefront, curtain wall, doors, and facades. This role involves working and coordinating with project foreman, managing subordinate tasks, and reporting production to foreman.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Blueprint Reading: must proficiently interpret construction blueprints, identifying symbols, dimensions, glass types, and architectural details to ensure accurate and precise glass installations in accordance with project specifications.
Problem Solving: employs effective problem-solving skills to address issues such as glass breakage, measurement discrepancies, or structural challenges, ensuring the successful completion of glass installations in diverse construction scenarios.
Field Verifications: conducts meticulous verification processes, confirming measurements, assessing site conditions, and addressing any unforeseen challenges to guarantee the accurate and seamless installation of glass elements in accordance with project specifications.
Installation of Materials: actively supports the installation process by assisting with the precise placement, securing, and sealing of glass materials, contributing to the successful completion of projects in adherence to quality standards.
Quality Control: involves rigorous inspection and adherence to industry standards throughout the glass installation process, ensuring precise measurements, proper material application, and overall compliance with project specifications to deliver a high-quality and durable finished product.
Team Basis Direction: provides clear and detailed directions to apprentices on a team basis, outlining specific tasks, safety protocols, and quality standards to ensure efficient and successful glass installations.
Jobsite Upkeeping: responsible for managing the daily upkeep of the construction site, including organizing tools and materials, ensuring a safe and clean work environment, and coordinating with other trades to facilitate efficient glass installation processes.
Location & commitments
Full-time: Seeking full-time field workers willing to work 40 hours Monday through Friday. Glaziers are expected to adhere these hours unless otherwise specified by employer.
Hours: Involves regular day-time hours, start times may vary based on jobsite location/travel.
Overtime: During peak construction periods or when deadlines need to be met, glaziers may be required to work overtime, including evenings and weekends.
Location: Office/Warehouse located at 3660 Thousand Oaks Dr. San Antonio, TX 78247 Suite 101
Travel: Glaziers may be required to travel to different job sites. Travel requirements can vary from local projects to out of town assignments.
Punctuality: Arriving on time for work. Being punctual sets an example to your team and demonstrates reliability to employers.
Communication: If unforeseen circumstances or delays occur that may impact attendance, it is important for glaziers to communicate properly and notify employer.
Leadership: Proven leaderships skills with the ability to guide and motivate a team.
Candidate requirements
High School Diploma or Equivalent: Candidates should have a high school diploma or a GED as a basic educational requirement.
Proficient Math Skills: Glaziers need to make accurate measurements and calculations when cutting and installing glass. Proficient math skills are important for precision in the work.
Interpreting Shop Drawings: Individual must show the ability to read and interpret blueprints and project specifications.
Proficient Manual Dexterity: Must have the ability to use hand and power tools effectively is crucial for tasks such as cutting aluminum and installing glass and storefront.
Driver’s License: A valid Driver’s license is required for traveling to various jobsites and locations.
Experience: Candidate must have 5-10 years of experience as a field glazier.
