TECHNICIAN III
POSITION OVERVIEW
This position requires an individual with a general technical knowledge and understanding of basic telecommunication technologies and associated equipment. As a Technician III you will be responsible for installations, additions and relocations and troubleshooting as required. This includes directing the activities of one or more individuals to complete a job in a timely economic manner.
Basic proficiency in one or more of the following fields is necessary to qualify for this position:
A) Voice & Data troubleshooting and repair
B) Network Equipment Installation
C) Paging Systems Installation
D) Data and Local Area Network Systems
E) Copper and/or Fiber Optic Cable Installation and Splicing
F) AC and DC Power Systems including Storage Batteries
In addition to the preceding technical requirements, this individual must also possess the following:
A) A willingness to acquire leadership and management skills.
B) Ability to assist immediate supervisor in planning job schedules.
C) Good person-to-person communication skills.
D) Good mathematical skills.
E) Good coordination skills.
F) Good health. (Medical exam may be required.)
G) Valid driver’s license, proof of minimum liability insurance as required by law and a satisfactory driving record.
H) Willingness to work day, evening, night, overtime, emergency call-outs as well as weekends and holidays.
I) Willingness to travel when necessary.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Individual must wear appropriate safety equipment and follow established safety procedures for each individual job. This includes OSHA, applicable National Electric Codes (Article 800) and TDA NETWORKS Policy.
Individual must maintain tools and safety equipment and be able to lift cartons, equipment and other items weighing up to 125 lbs.
Individual must maintain a satisfactory attendance, training, performance rating and safety record.
Individual must wear appropriate attire for each job site.
A security clearance may be required.
JOB DUTIES
Job duties will include but are not limited to the following:
A) Perform work required to complete projects in a timely and economical fashion.
B) Receive work orders from Operations Supervisor, Foreman or the Lead Tech; review and interpret work orders; determine material required. Any material needs that cannot be filled from TDA NETWORKS stock are to be reviewed with the immediate supervisor and arrangements made for the provision of same.
C) Insure proper security for tools and equipment while on job site.
D) Perform various clerical functions including reviewing and validating time sheets, expense sheets, work orders, work completion for invoicing and list of supplies.
E) Maintain storage room as assigned by the Operations Supervisor or Foreman. May direct the activities of one or more technicians and/or helpers.
COMMENTS
As a Technician III you will be directly responsible to the Foreman but have the ability to make decisions on your own. Training and advancement go hand in hand; therefore it will depend on your ability to work hard, observe and learn. Let your Supervisor know your goals and your plans to achieve them.
