JOB TITLE: Projects and Maintenance Supervisor

The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee and perform maintenance and repairs of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), carpentry, painting, and equipment/machinery and other assets used to produce, grow, and deliver nursery and greenhouse crops. The Maintenance and Projects Supervisor will oversee staff. The scope of maintenance includes an office facility, out buildings and greenhouse space, production fields, critical infrastructure equipment including force air heaters, water pumps, water filtration systems, backup generators, and automatic irrigation systems, on a site of 180 acres at Green Lake Nursery San Marcos Location. Maintenance includes property upkeep, managing vegetation and ponds. Projects include building and grow area construction, plumbing, irrigation, drainage, and electrical.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees planning and execution of the project list of the maintenance department.
Evaluates systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed.
Follows maintenance procedures and schedules, including project deadlines.
Oversee contractors; reviewing their quality of work and adherence to timelines promised and cost.
Following departmental budget estimates and costs of specific repairs and projects.
Excellent communication and ability to work with approved vendors to procure materials
Ensures critical infrastructure is always operating properly, including but not limited to, backup systems, 24 hours emergency repair and /or outside technicians.
Maintains Safety of Employees and Site
Performs any other related duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises up to 5 employees within the maintenance department
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to read and execute project plans
Demonstrate recordkeeping ability and organize appropriate documentation for facilities and maintenance jobs, projects, and equipment
Interact with other departments and management to prioritize needs and for the overall efficiency of the nursery
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address maintenance and operational issues quickly and efficiently.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong leadership skills and team management skills.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least 5+ as a Maintenance Supervisor or related field.
Extensive knowledge of building systems such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
Extensive knowledge of machinery and equipment use on the facility.
Ability to identify issues and determine repairs that are needed.
Ability to follow maintenance schedules for buildings, growing systems, and property.
Prior experience in nursery field-production preferred.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Additional remarks regarding work environment:
Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used: forklift, skid steer, trencher, excavator, tractor and shredder, truck and gooseneck trailer, box truck, roller compactor, and other farm and construction equipment.
Must be able to traverse property and facility to diagnose building issues and plan repairs or maintenance.
