Personal Care Assistant Needed in Sherman, TX
Hello. I have been fortunate to have found some good assistants using Craigslist in the past, and I'm revisiting to help fill in some of the gaps in my personal care schedule. I am a 42-year-old female with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, type 2, and I need assistance with all activities of daily living in my home and the community. I use a powerchair full time and need an assistant for an afternoon shift. The shift is 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday. This person will also be considered a backup when my two other assistants need off. Shifts are typically between two and three hours, unless otherwise specified. This job is perfect for someone with compassion who may need to supplement their current pay or even a student with a gap in their schedule. For this specific shift, I will require assistance with using the toilet, preparing and eating lunch, and tidying up. When I am not working, I spend time with my husband and our four dogs. I am not religious by choice, although I do respect others' beliefs and welcome all types of people. Our home is purposefully "drama-free" and my other assistants tell me it is a little "escape" from their day-to-day.

There is no direct lifting.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be over 18 years old
Must be able to pass a national background check
Must be able to work in the U.S. legally
Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Must have reliable transportation
PREFERRED:
Experience in this field
Experience using a Hoyer Lift
No smokers
CPR and First Aid
No heavy lifting, but the position requires bending, squatting, and pulling.
SHIFTS: Monday-Friday: 8am-11am; 1pm-3pm; 6pm-9pm; Sunday-Saturday: flexible but typically start at 9am. Time and duration may change, but with notice.
SALARY: $15 per hour. Pay is bi-weekly and negotiable. I will also provide small bonuses at least twice annually. As of January 2021, it is a federal requirement that any service provider funded by federal funds use an Electronic Visit Verification system. It is the Assistant’s responsibility to learn to use the EVV system as this will ensure accurate and timely pay. The one we will be using is Vesta, and I can help you with this. The Assistant will be provided with a Pay Schedule upon hire.
