Essential FunctionsQuantify project components assigned by the leading estimatorVisit the project to understand site conditions/restrictionsWork with the estimating team bidding on the project to build the estimate, then price assigned items in HCSS HeavybidReview plans, specifications & contract documentsProvide accurate take-offWork on a preliminary project schedule based on the information provided in the plans and specifications utilizing Primavera P6Work with the team to close the estimateContact subcontractors, suppliers, vendors and specialty services for quotesCoordinating with subcontractors about prospective workReview and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figuresDevelop thorough, timely, and accurate estimates, proposals, and bid documents.Lead the team to close the estimateRequired Skills & ExperienceStrong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-orientedStrong working knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Excel and WordExcellent verbal and written communication skillsHCSS Heavybid and Primavera P6 experience is strongly preferredAdditional working knowledge preferred but not required: Terra Model, Bluebeam, Auto Cad, Microstation, and VistaMinimum of 10 years of experience as an Estimator working in all aspects of large heavy/highway construction projects (Structures, Bridges, Underground, Earthwork, Asphalt Paving and Concrete Paving)Experience leading an estimating teamBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline is preferredPrevious field operations experience is a plusExperience with collaborating withowner, contractors, and other project team members, to provide engineering and cost data regarding project feasibilityThis job summary is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals assigned to this position.
