RESPONSIBILITIES and EXPECTATIONS:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs general manual labor duties throughout the plant including but not limited to housekeeping duties, heavy equipment operation and quality control management as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
Heavy Equipment Operation
Safe operation of mobile equipment (haul trucks, water truck, skid steer)
Abide by all company policies and procedures & all State and Federal laws
All other Heavy equipment operation as assigned.
Preventive Maintenance on Heavy Equipment
Perform pre-shift inspection on vehicle prior to operation
Fuel equipment as needed and properly log all fuel required
Report or fix all items found during pre-shift inspection
Perform preventive maintenance on truck when needed, with preventive maintenance being:
Check & top off fluids
Lubricate (grease)
Tire maintenance (pressure & visual inspection)
Plant Utility
Plant clean up as required (sweeping, shoveling, manual labor as needed)
Shipping/Loading as required
Perform equipment inspections notifying production and maintenance of issues.
All other plant utility responsibilities as assigned.
Environmental, Health and Safety
Follow all safety policies and procedures & attend scheduled safety meetings
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Promote safety among co-workers utilizing Behavioral Based Safety (BBS)
Perform all work assigned in a neat and orderly manner adhering to company and governmental safety rules and regulations and procedures.
All personnel will be responsible for the facilities’ Safe Food initiative, Safe Qualify Feed (SQF), based on FSMA and Current Good Manufacturing Practices.
Ensure that truck drivers conduct business in a safe manner.
Provide general upkeep of the scale house.
Report any operational or safety problems to management.
Perform daily work place exams (WPE) including fall protection equipment, loading equipment, and all of shipping work space to MSHA standard
Quality Control
Follow directions and dump mined ore in designated location as directed
Report any deviations from the norm that might impact product quality or processing efficiencies
Weigh truck and properly log weight of material hauled as required
General Duties
Ability to successfully perform general duties of a Utility B.
Perform pre shift and operate all utility equipment including forklifts, manlifts, scissor lifts
Able to cross train and cross functionally operate in shipping, quality, maintenance and quarry depts.
Train as a backup production operator with at least 80 hrs./year training
Troubleshoot process and equipment plug and safely correct
Participate in major plant/equipment outages/rebuilds including Baghouse changes, mill rebuilds, dryer rebuilds, etc.
Minor welding skills and ability to perform maintenance work orders
BBS Leader and participate as a safety leader
Ability to operate plant for “fill in”
ATTRIBUTES:
Self-motivated and must be able to work independently
Intimate working knowledge of State and Federal laws pertaining to operation of vehicles
Detailed knowledge and understanding of over the road heavy truck operation and safety requirements
PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Must be capable of working shift work, overtime, seven days, or holidays, if needed
Able to lift 50 pounds
Demonstrated skills of heavy equipment operation a plus, but minimum as demonstrated for an over the road haul truck
History of safe operation of vehicle as demonstrated on driving record
Effectively communicate and interact with supervisors and peers
Tolerate working outside in weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, limestone, noise and dust
Must be able to perform in compliance with all task training requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
