Scope of Position:
The qualified senior wind technician performs unsupervised field maintenance, mechanical repair, large component replacements, rigging work and live electrical troubleshooting for one or more types of wind turbine generators. The senior technician has the ability to train technicians on specific machines and is expected to understand and follow procedures as provided through service manuals, Control Instructions, Work Instructions and other pertinent documents or instructions as provided by company supervisory personnel. The senior technician is expected to know and follow established safety guidelines and will seek guidance in matters for which they may be uncertain or unfamiliar.

Working conditions:
Senior Wind Technicians spend 100% of their time in the field, excluding safety; supervisor and scheduled training exercises. Senior Wind Technicians work in teams and are provided a company vehicle (service truck) in which they carry the required tools and parts necessary to perform repairs and/or maintenance on turbines. Service Technicians work in extreme weather conditions.
Responsibilities:
Perform field maintenances, troubleshooting and repair in a timely manner.
Troubleshoot electrical systems and perform live electrical work in accordance with industry standard practices.
Accurately account for time and materials expended in the performance of the job function.
Report for work at the time and location specified.
Operate service equipment in a safe manner and maintain records for same.
Follow safety regulations and work procedures.
Report on work status as directed.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must have completed at least 2000 hours of documented service in the wind and/or other related industry.
Must have successfully met qualifications for the Advanced Wind Technician and have passed the Senior Wind Technician examination.
Skilled in the use of precision measuring devices such as micrometer and dial gages.
Familiarity with shimming procedures for gearbox bearings.
Have mastery of the company's paperwork and have a good understanding on how to find and use all necessary documents.
Demonstrated safe work habits, to include electrical troubleshooting.
Competent in field repair, replacement and installation of turbine components.
Must be able to train other technicians in field repair, replacement and installation of turbine components.
Must be able to read and interpret basic schematics and technical data.
Must be able to read and understand turbine technical manuals.
Must be knowledgeable on protection devices, control devices, power supplies, loads, conductors, transducers, Ethernet communications, error codes and parameter configurations.

Able to work at heights, including climbing up and descending towers, entering nacelles and hubs at extreme heights.
Able to work in a mechanical environment. This may have been achieved through formal training, previous work experience as an auto mechanic or the ability to demonstrate that an individual is mechanically inclined.
Able to operate company vehicles (field trucks) both on site as well as on public roads and highways. Must have a current driver’s license with a good DMV printout.
Demonstrate good work habits, including but not limited to attendance, and maintaining a neat and orderly work environment.
