Sunrun is the predominant market leader in this rapidly changing industry with presence in over 20 states across numerous channels. The Product and Strategy team at Sunrun plays a critical role in developing long term market strategy and driving commercial decisions across various channels that drive market share and margin expansion.As the Sr. Manager of Market Strategy & Pricing Analytics at Sunrun, you will drive executive understanding of Policy and Tariff trends impacting the solar industry and implications for forward looking strategy. You will be the foremost expert in various utility tariffs in our markets along with Net Metering rules and lead analytics to show the customer value proposition for various products. The Sr. Manager of Market Strategy & Pricing Analytics will also be key in helping Sunrun determine the best way to use the batteries to drive most value based on market specifics. You will also assist the Product and Strategy leadership team in setting product pricing, developing business cases for product development and market entry, and determining the best go-to-market approach in our core markets.You will work on Federal, State, and local policy strategy to maximize outcomes for our core solar business as well as growth areas such as batteries, EV chargers, smart home, and grid services. You will collaborate with Policy, Product, Sales, Ops, Marketing, Finance to develop and set strategies. You will leverage these insights to maintain a shortlist of most impactful market level trends and opportunities, evangelize these opportunities with various executive leaders across Sunrun and influence organizations to execute initiatives.The Residential Solar + Storage industry is complex and success in this role requires an appropriate balance between ability to dig deep into the modeling of specific post-solar tariffs and incentives for our customers and ability to take a step back and assess opportunities in the context of larger market success. This role requires exceptional modeling and analytical skills, in-depth partnership with Policy experts, and an ability to collaborate with a highly diverse cross functional leadership stakeholder group. In short, we are looking for an emerging solar leader who will be energized in this high impact and rewarding role.RESPONSIBILITIES

You will lead the pricing strategy, pricing execution, and the management / development of the tools that enable Sunrun’s growth

This role exists in collaboration with sales and operating leadership, and requires comfort in each a) highly quantitative / analytical exercises; b) senior-level strategy and execution discussions, and c) customer-facing environments

Define, analyze, and execute initiatives to drive value to our customers and our businesse.g., balancing customer savings and Sunrun margin while enabling robust growth

Work across the sales, finance, software product management, and other internal teams to achieve commercial outcomes

Lead a team of technical analysts that drive big data analytics, KPI reporting / dashboarding, and ultimately execution of high impact strategic initiatives in an efficient and high velocity manner

Work closely with senior management on high priority strategic initiatives

Have full command of market level competitive dynamics and customer tariff options

Partner with Policy counterparts to develop market level policy strategy to ensure long term market success and improve customer value; influence proposals and counterproposals to regulatory bodies in real-time

Maintain dashboards and sources of truth for market level savings estimates across product, channel and market

Continuously improve customer expectation setting pertaining to savings including periodically auditing sales behavior and customer feedback

Assist in business case development with sales leadership considering new business opportunities such as market expansion and new acquisition channels

Collaborate with Product teams on various new products [such as EV chargers, load controllers] to inform product strategy & business model

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL DEMONSTRATE

Exceptional Analytical skills: Can digest and analyze vast sets of data and build robust yet simple models that are outcome and impact oriented

Adaptability : Adjusts quickly to changing priorities and conditions; anticipates and copes effectively with the complexity of change (i.e., real-time support for regulatory proceedings, where new scenarios must be quickly digested and analyzed)

Strategic Judgment: Has the judgment to understand our products to inform strategy (i.e., implications of state rebates on our revenue, high peak/off-peak rate differentials, monthly netting vs. hourly netting, demand charges with low volumetric rate etc.)

Collaboration/Organizational Influence: Collaborates effectively with and influences a wide range of cross functional leaders including policy, sales leaders, product, finance, marketing to drive alignment and understanding of key Policy trends

Organized and Impact-Oriented: Creates accessible tools for tracking and communicating top policy objectives including estimates of impact, status, and action items required

Communication & Storytelling: Can communicate concepts succinctly and effectively with the executive leadership team and influence meetings. Can develop succinct and impactful materials that drive quick and effective decisions

Curiosity and attention to detail: has the curiosity to understand & detail orientation to model the underlying drivers of each of the key tariff/NEM parameters [such as netting rules, TOU periods]

Versatility : Ability to operate both at a high level and get in the weeds (e.g., board room polish + get it done grit)

QUALIFICATIONS

3-4+ years of experience in top tier management consulting, investment banking, strategic finance, corporate strategy or similar preferred but not required

Experience managing teams and holding reports accountable to timely deliverables preferred but not required

Experience designing and developing complex analytical models across relevant scenarios to drive business decisions

Demonstrated ability to make data driven decisions which impact ongoing business operations, track outcomes of decisions and iterate in real time in response to evolving conditions

Experience in solar industry & tariff modeling preferred but not required

Undergraduate degree in Policy, Business, Economics, Science or other quantitative fields required
