As the Grocery Manager, you will be responsible for the overall operation and success of the Grocery Department. The Grocery Manager Assists the Store Director with ensuring the implementation of company policies, budgets, and operating procedures are being met and maintained while building and developing a relationship with the community and local businesses. As a Grocery Manager, you will work to ensure our grocery team members have the support and guidance to advance their opportunities with Lee’s while maintaining a desired atmosphere that encourages the community members to become a part of our Lee’s family and commit to shopping at our store. Develop maximum customer relations through a friendly and courteous behavior.

Promote a high level of morale within department and store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication.

Provides a safe, clean and positive environment; and consistently builds and supports a culture that is based on relationships and continuous improvement.

Has knowledge of and complies with all company policies, procedures, programs and directives. Refers to Team Member Handbook continually to ensure policies and procedures are followed. Promotes a harassment-free environment, and immediately reports any potential harmful situation to management.

Continually strives to build knowledge and skills, both personally and within the department and store through training and education of self and other team members.

Attends departmental, store and company meetings as required; contributes to profits and revenues and meets productivity standards.

Plan, organize, direct and control the activities of the Grocery department.

Assist in the proper training of all new department team members. Be sure they are familiar with pricing, price marking, rotation, stocking, etc. Supervise the continual training and development of all Grocery Department personnel, ensuring that proper emphasis on customer courtesy and productivity is developed, and that skills learned are properly utilized.

Participation in the selection and training of all night stock team members for the store.

Manage and delegate responsibilities to various personnel of the department, and in the absence of the Assistant Store Director take charge of store operations.

Assist in the receiving, storing, pricing and merchandising of all grocery products.

Assure adequate stock and supplies by proper ordering, so that department inventory can be maintained at optimum levels.

Continue practice of self-development so that additional duties and responsibilities can be assumed.

Evaluate your department continually and make changes or recommendations to Store Director.

Responsible for gross profit, merchandising, preparing and displaying product within set guidelines and standards. Maintains effective control of department sales, wage expenses and inventory within established budgets. Ensures department contributes to profits and revenues.

Plans aggressive merchandising programs for increased sales. Works with store management and offers ideas for cross merchandising with other departments.

Maintains an awareness of the department's competitive activity within the store marketing areas.

Position Requirements:

Experience: Past grocery experience is required

Minimum Age: 21 years of age

Lifting Requirements: Ability to lift 60+ pounds

Equipment: cash register, calculator, safe, computer, copy machine, box cutter, baler, forklift, pallet jacks, two-wheeler, etc.

Physical Abilities: Regularly required to walk, stand, sit, twist, and bend; repetitive use of hands and arms to push, pull, carry, lift, reach, grip and balance; occasionally stoop, crouch, kneel or crawl. Lifting may include floor to shoulder and overhead lifting. Occasional use and climbing of step stools or ladders required.

Communication: Ability to write, speak, hear and understand the spoken word in order to respond promptly to pages, requests, team members and guests. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals.
