Provide support to the IT Physical Infrastructure team in their work to meet students, faculty, staff, and outside contractor needs for voice and data connections, wireless access points, security camera installations, and utility mapping. This position will audit communication closets, cameras and access points across campus. Record minutes in staff meetings, initiate PI Team assignments, camera incidents, and camera access requests.Responsibilities
Support Director of Physical Infrastructure and team members:
Assist the Physical Infrastructure Director and other team leads with monthly project updates and pass updates to the IT business department for tracking.
Schedule meetings for staff and training as needed.
Take minutes at the weekly PI Team staff meeting and other meetings as needed.
Verify phone locations not documented in E-911. Assist with switch documentation.
Milestone Cameras:
Regularly review the cameras in Milestone to make sure they are functioning as they should.
Track and report camera issues; initiate trouble tickets when needed.
Map new and replacement cameras throughout USU's Logan campus and all other campuses state-wide.
Initiate camera access requests.
Audits for Wireless Access Points, Cameras, Data Jacks, Telephones, S2 Freezers and Communication Closets:
Verify locations for wireless AP's, security cameras, and data jacks across campus.
Find locations for phones missing on the E-911 report.
Document -80 Freezer connections for the S2 alarm system.
Visit communication closets across campus every 6 months and document items that may need to be addressed, i.e. cleaning, labeling, fire prevention, etc.
Will require visiting buildings across campus and traveling to other USU state-wide campuses.
Work with student help or other team members to assist in documentation.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Five years of experience; OR an associate degree/technical training in a related field plus three years experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior USU experience.
Knowledge of USU policies and procedures.
Experience with TDM handset programming and voicemail provisioning. (Presently ShoreTel VoIP)
BICSI, NEC or other standards/best-practice installer-level certifications.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to solve problems, work well under pressure, manage multiple/routine tasks simultaneously, take initiative within project scope, maintain confidentiality, and work with little supervision.
Willingness to undertake any necessary training needed to perform job functions or to enhance performance.
Excellent computer skills (Data Entry, Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet).
