Job ID 17477Join our team at Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) as a Facilities Construction Technician to help manage a wide variety of construction projects across our cutting-edge campus. In this role, you will partner with architecture firms, outside general contractors, and internal customers such as our engineers to oversee renovations, upgrades, and new building initiatives. Leveraging your technical skills and construction knowledge, you will play a key part in taking projects from concept to completion. Your responsibilities will include:
Coordinating with external architecture firms and contractors as well as internal engineers and stakeholders from planning through project execution
Assist with project timelines and budgets
Overseeing bidding processes and selecting vendors
Managing general contractors and subcontractors
Ensuring projects meet objectives, codes, and quality standards
Conducting inspections at critical project milestones
Tracking costs, schedules, compliance, and vendor performance

Required Qualifications:
Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain a US government security clearance
High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience in commercial construction, project coordination or management role
Knowledge of construction methods, building codes, regulations, and safety standards
Experience reading blueprints, architectural drawings, and specifications
Experience with Microsoft Office suite
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Detail-oriented with strong follow-through
Experience negotiating with contractors and vendors
Budget administration experience
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Be hands-on at job sites when required
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Microsoft Visio for developing detailed diagrams and floorplans
Knowledge of key trades such as electrical, plumbing, and carpentry to effectively coordinate skilled craftworkers
Open to travel to job sites and manage offsite projects as needed
Experience with construction management principles including planning, budgeting, and overseeing execution of building projects
Familiarity with procurement procedures a plus
