Join our team in our seventh decade of delivering mission success.We are seeking an experienced mission assurance/quality engineer to join our team. You will report to the Quality, Safety and Mission Assurance Manager and perform mission assurance and quality-engineering activities in support of meeting mission requirements. A strong background in quality engineering is required in order to perform tasks such as reviewing and approving drawing packages, acting as a witness for acceptance tests, interpreting contractual requirements, coordinating specifications for the purchase of goods and services, performing final inspections on deliverable hardware, preparing end-item data package documentation, identifying and implementing process improvements, and leading efforts to address and resolve nonconforming product issues.You may also be involved with supporting various activities associated with several of the organization's AS9100D-certified Quality Management System (QMS) processes.Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Frequent customer communication and interaction
Develops and implements mission assurance plans
Ensures required analysis and predictions are identified, coordinated, and completed
Defines and implements mission assurance policies, procedures, and tools across the lab
Works with program personnel to define, assesses, and analyzes mission assurance requirements and identifies impacts to the customer
Provides proposal review to identify and ensure compliance with mission assurance objectives and quality requirements
Actively represents mission assurance/quality engineering during critical design and test readiness reviews
Coordinates, processes, and dispositions nonconforming products and anomalies
Reviews engineering drawings
Interfaces with Design, Manufacturing, and Test Engineering to improve design and procedures
Interfaces with subcontractors and customers to resolve quality problems
Performs manufacturing inspections to ensure quality
Performs audits on internal and subcontractor procedures
Creates and reviews customer and subcontract deliverables
Required Qualifications:
BS in a physical science, engineering, and/or business operation field
At least 10+ years of mission assurance/quality engineering experience
Experience with identifying, quantifying, managing, and tracking system/product-level risks
Demonstrated ability to understand and manage multiple stakeholders
Knowledge of the ISO 9001 or AS9100D Quality System Standards
Experience and knowledge with one or more of the following: FMEA/FMECA, FRB, reliability analysis, radiation, system safety, EEE part screening/selection, WCA, parts stress analysis
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to work well independently or on a team
Ability to facilitate and promote use of problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action (5-Why, 8D problem solving)
Must be a US citizen and able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Mission assurance/quality engineering experience in a research and development environment, aerospace and defense, and/or comparable industry
