DescriptionSchedule: Monday - Friday (40 hrs/wk)8:00 AM - 5:00 PMDepartment: R&I Appl AI & Bioinform - 339Primary Purpose: This IT Software Programmer IV role is in the Bioinformatics and Applied Artificial Intelligence group. Our team is a combination of data scientists and software engineers who work on a variety of cutting-edge AI projects in digital pathology. We’re looking for folks with a strong technical background who have a passion for organization, and a deeply rooted suspicion of loose ends. Our ideal candidate is a seasoned engineer who understands how to make the most of project management tools like Atlassian JIRA, SmartSheets, and MS Loop. Consider joining our dynamic team.Essential Functions: Reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems including coding, testing, debugging and documenting programs. These programs may include desktop applications, interfaces, web applications, stored procedures, or other software artifacts depending on specific job responsibility.Adheres to ARUP’s enterprise software development policies and departmental software development processes.Maintains expertise in applicable software development tools, techniques and environments.May help establish ARUP software development practicesHelps or mentors other project team members.Facilitates the architecture and design decisions for their team.Other duties as assigned.Physical and Other Requirements: Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.Communicate: Frequently and effectively communicate with others.ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. High School Diploma or Equivalent or better

Preferred

Associates Degree or better in Computer Programming

Bachelor's Degree or better in Computer Programming

ExperienceRequired

Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a software related field and 5 years of applicable work experience Or high school diploma (or equivalent) and 6 years of applicable work experience

Experience doing basic Linux server administration tasks; bash scripting, Docker deployment, Apache web server installation/management

Interest in data science and working with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB

Team player that is willing to experiment with new technologies

Preferred

Proficient in Python. Candidate should know package management, conda virtual environments and decorators

Experience with Amazon Web Service (AWS) offerings

Some knowledge of cluster computing (HPC, Batch Computing, Scientific Computing)

Understanding of GraphQL API design

Experience working with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, CouchDB, or Cassandra

Knowledge of data analysis and modeling algorithms including; data binning/clustering, regression and machine learning

Expertise in Web application programming, including expertise in the following languages/technologies as required by project assignments: C#.Net, JavaScript, TypeScript, React.JS, MS SQL
