Payroll Union Specialist

The Payroll Union Specialist is responsible within the Payroll organization for the design, implementation, and enhancement of all union reporting, processing, and controls. This is a US-remote-telework position; US Citizenship is required. Position pays between 70-90K depending on experience.Essential Responsibilities:

Serves as the Union Specialist for the design, implementation, and enhancement of all Union Reporting, processing, and controls.

Performs reconciliations, and initiates payments for Union Dues, Pensions, Health & Welfare (Unions) in compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA’s).

Establishes, modifies, and develops processes to enhance and expedite the processing of Union Reporting via electronic means when specified by the CBA.

Leads and or assist in the set-up of all new deduction codes in the payroll system. Liaison with staff and payroll provider.

Provides timely reporting and audit support for all unions.

Prepares monthly accruals for both Union and Worker’s Compensation.

Continuous audit, and legal support for all unions, and meeting all deadlines for union reporting: bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually.

Prepares Quarterly Worker’s Compensation reporting.

Serves as the point of contact for inquiries, and requests for interpretation of all data related to Unions.

Performs other duties as required.

Seeking a strong collaborator with demonstrated ability to work successfully with cross functional teams.

Knowledge of the Standard Contract Languages of the International Association of Machinists (IAM) Pension to ensure accurate and timely on-line reporting.

Understanding of all union deductions codes and calculations affiliated with each code.

Knowledge of US federal and state employment laws, collective bargaining agreements, McNamara O’Hara Service Contract Act, Fair Labor Standards Act; knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).

Ability to analyze data and make accurate math calculations by adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, calculating percentages, and similar functions.

Ability to quickly make decisions based on accurate and timely data analysis.

Capable of working under pressure of deadlines and able to handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment and must be able to prioritize multiple competing tasks.

Intermediate Excel skills to include use of pivots and Vlookups.

Knowledge of project accounting concepts. Payroll/Timekeeping system experience preferred: Deltek CostPoint version 7 or higher, ADP Enterprise v5 and Workday.

Five (5) years of experience in Payroll to include union experience or related area with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field.

Experience processing Payroll/Timekeeping for 5,000 or more employees with a large multi-state or international employer preferred.

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred.
