Preparing components: Cleaning and prepping components to be soldered, including applying flux as needed.
Reading blueprints and work orders: Interpreting assembly drawings and specifications to understand soldering requirements for each project.
Operating soldering equipment: Using various soldering tools like soldering irons, hot air guns, wave soldering machines, and selective soldering machines with proper technique.
Soldering components: Precisely placing and soldering electronic components onto PCBs, including through-hole and surface mount components.
Quality inspection: Visually inspecting soldered joints for defects like cold solder, bridging, or improper placement, and performing necessary rework.
Maintaining equipment: Cleaning and maintaining soldering tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Following safety protocols: Adhering to safety guidelines regarding handling hazardous materials like flux and solder fumes.
Documentation: Maintaining records of production details, including quality control checks and any issues encountered.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND CERTIFICATIONSRequired skills and qualifications:
Experience: Should have 4+ years of PCB solder experience. Should be trained in IPC 610
Fine motor skills: Excellent hand-eye coordination and dexterity for precise placement of components.
Technical knowledge: Understanding of basic electronics, circuit diagrams, and soldering techniques.
Attention to detail: Ability to identify even minor defects in soldering work.
Ability to follow instructions: Carefully adhering to established procedures and specifications.
Visual acuity: Good eyesight for close-up work and inspecting small components.
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSEnvironment and Physical DemandsWork environments:
Manufacturing facilities, in electronics assembly lines.
