SNOWCAT/VEHICLE MECHANIC
Discovery ski resort is looking for a person interested in joining our team. The position is full time/year-round and must be able to work some holidays and weekends during winter operations. Able to work in adverse weather conditions from extreme cold and snow to heat. No previous mechanic experience needed but is preferred. Candidates must be self-motivated learners. Pay ranges from $18-26/hour depending on experience. Benefits include Health insurance, Season pass for Skiing and Bike Park, annual tool allowance.
DESCRIPTON
The snowcat/vehicle mechanic is responsible for maintenance and repair of a wide variety of Discovery’s fleet such as Snowcats, snowmobiles, trucks, snow removal equipment, lift APU’s and other equipment needed to support base and mountain operations. The mechanic also works snow removal for road and parking lots if needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Winter Season)
Maintain a safe and clean work environment both in the shop and outside
Daily checks of snowcats in the morning when they come off shift
Communicate with operators about equipment problems needing addressed
Preventative maintenance and repair of all fleet vehicles and equipment
Troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, electric and computer systems on vehicles and equipment
Assist with snow removal on road and parking lots
Communicate with other departments to maintain effective support of mountain operations
Ensure minimal downtime of snowcats and other equipment
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Summer Season)
Maintain a safe and clean work environment both inside the shop and outside
Perform annual service on snowcats and other equipment
Perform service and repairs on fleet vehicles for Bike park, and lift maintenance crews
Ensure all snowcats and winter machinery is ready for winter
QUALIFIFCATIONS
Work and communicate well with others
Basic knowledge of engines, hydraulics, and electrical controls preferred
Ability to learn and operate a variety of equipment
Welding/fabricating preferred
Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
