PAWS Thrift Store is a non-profit that raises money to fund the PAWS Animal Rescue medical fund.

This position will supervise and participate in the day-to-day operations of the Thrift Store ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures; ensure the accountability and security of inventory and cashier funds; maintain the neatness and attractiveness of store merchandise ensuring displays remain well-stocked; assist volunteers in resolving routing problems; performing special assignments; maintain favorable relationships with customers and donors.

Overall responsibilities include manage donations, cash register, credit card and store opening and closing procedures necessary to open, close and operate store in a professional manner. This is a 32-40 per hour week position. Salary based on experience.

Responsibilities

Create a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintain good customer and volunteer relationships.

Meet sales and expense budget goals. Maintain a profitable operation.

Conduct regular volunteer meetings, which would include review of financial data, store operations and PAWS organization.

Schedule all volunteers and employees to ensure full coverage in store at all times. Minimum of two employees in the store always.

Arrange merchandise displays throughout the Thrift Store.

Oversee the Back Room Manager.

Oversee the processing of donated items, manage the rotation of items and the disposal of donated items in a timely manner and that all fashion merchandise is organized, sorted, colorized and priced appropriately.

Process of donated merchandise includes sorting, tagging, displaying and disposing of donated items, providing leadership to staff and volunteers; enforce set standards for merchandise to be displayed and communicate same.

Organize donation pick-ups and deliveries.

Post merchandise and sales on Facebook, Instagram, FB Marketplace, yard sale sites and EBay.

Daily tasks include checking all displays for neatness, pricing is accurate, floors are swept daily and mopped weekly, dust, and organize merchandise.

Provide training, direction and supervision for volunteers along with all personnel as necessary.

Conduct regular performance evaluations of employees with a formal written evaluation annually

Responsible for the proper accounting and banking of daily cash receipts at the end of each business day. Safeguard cash at all times.

Ensure all paperwork and sales reports are filled out completely and forwarded to the PAWS director monthly.

Maintain a clean, neat and orderly appearance in the store and ensure the storeroom is organized at all times.

Responsible for the protection of property and buildings. Report safety hazards, property damage and personal injuries to PAWS director.

Job Requirements

Ability to work in an ever-changing environment and in multiple settings

Must be able to perform all processes and procedures that are asked of other employees and volunteers

Must have effective communication skills

Must have flexibility with schedule

Must be able to lift 35-40 lbs.

Must have ability to read, count and write accurately

Previous thrift store experience a plus

Previous management experience a plus

Excellent customer skills

Ability to manage and train volunteers and employees

Ability to plan and supervise the work of others

Valid Drives license and acceptable DMV report

Must pass a drug test

Management experience a plus

Salary based on experience
