Winterwood Timber Frames is the leading custom timber frame company in Central Vermont. We are looking for a Project Designer/Drafting & Estimating specialist. Your primary job will be to develop residential architectural concepts for clients, create schematics and renderings to convey details, eventually leading to full construction drawings. We work exclusively in Sketchup Pro and Layout. Secondarily, you’ll be involved with product choices, pricing, conversing with suppliers and subcontractors, and helping to create budgets. You'll need to know or learn about timber framing engineering principles, create material lists based on drawings for estimating process, and possess excellent communication skills to interface with clients to clarify drawing details. You will interact with other members of the team for input on design features, including our Timber Operations Supervisor (oversees timber frame design) and our full-service woodshop to turn concept into reality.
Qualifications include:
Solid working knowledge of Sketchup Pro and Layout as applied to residential construction and woodworking. Need to have architectural vision, efficient drafting techniques, and an eye for detail.
Have an interest and aptitude for timber frame construction, woodworking and carpentry. Previous experience in residential construction preferred.
Be a strong communicator, good listener and have a positive attitude.
