Position Details Advertising/Posting Title Director of Professional and Career Development (Graduate College) Diversity Statement The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the institution. Posting Summary Create and oversee data and outcome-driven, integrated, holistic professional development and career preparation initiatives and resources to prepare Master’s and doctoral students for long-term career success across academia, industry, business, government, and the non-profit sector. Collaborate with academic units, graduate programs, faculty, and students, Career Center and other campus partners, alums, and external stakeholders to advance graduate professional and career development. Provide opportunities for students to be intentional about their professional and career development, develop strategic competencies, pursue funding opportunities, and join professional communities that will serve them while at UVM and into their careers. Offer career coaching to Ph.D. students. Manage programming budget; support grant development for unit.Within academic year 2024/2025, grow the Graduate College Professional and Career Development team by recruiting for and overseeing a graduate student career counselor.Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Doctoral degree and at least five years of related professional experience.Knowledge of academia and graduate education, especially doctoral education retention, progression, completion.Demonstrated experience in coaboratively developing initiatives and programming in academic settings.Ability to work well with diverse groups of individuals across units on multiple high-level projects simultaneously.Desirable Qualifications 5+ years of experience planning academic programming.Experience in creation, distribution, and analysis of surveys, data management and analysis.Career coaching for graduate students.Diversity of professional experiences across sectors (academia, industry, non-profits, government).Anticipated Pay Range $80,000 - $90,000 Other Information Special Conditions Bargaining unit position, A probationary period may be required, A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees, Background Check required for this position FLSA Exempt Union Position Yes, UVMSU ($20 minimum hourly rate) Posting Details Position will be posted for a minimum of one week, after which it is subject to removal without notice.Job Open Date 07/10/2024 Job Close Date (Jobs close at 11:59 PM EST.)
