Charter House Coalition is looking for a Coordinator for Shelter Operations and Volunteer Staff. This individual will become part of a team of three that is responsible for the 24/7 operation of the homeless shelter in Middlebury. We are looking for an energetic, smart, fun, multi-tasking, personable person who is looking for meaningful work that really makes a difference in the community not just a job.
The position requires scheduling flexibility and is ideally suited to an individual who wants and can benefit from a flexible work week. Job responsibilities include: (1) manage shelter reservations; (2) nightly intake of new guests; (3) promote a trauma informed living environment; (4) support the well-being and self-improvement of guests; (5) help guests secure stable housing; (6) maintain harmony among guests; (7) facility and equipment upkeep and cleanliness; (7) crisis management; (8) recruit, train and schedule volunteers; (9) support the organizations long standing partnership with Middlebury College; (10) become proficient in the data management system used to support guests in securing stable housing; (11) become part of the team of community partner organizations supporting those who are homeless or at risk in finding or stabilizing housing.
