The Daily Planet is now hiring a bar manager. Minimum 2 years experience bartending in a fast-paced, cocktail-heavy environment. Management experience preferred but not required. Positive attitude a must. We have a small, friendly, upbeat team that works hard and has fun doing so. This is a full-time position, with both day and night shifts available.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Working between 4-6 shifts behind the bar per week
-Performs quarterly inventory
-Creates drink menus, and keeps them updated
-Ensures bar is well-stocked and clean
-Ensures walk-in is organized and items are rotated
-Ensures orders are put away appropriately
-Organizes and oversees bar prep, trains all bar staff on bar prep
-Maintains drink recipe documentation
-Appropriately delegates tasks to bar staff
-Selects and purchases liquor, beer, and wine
-Oversees staff, including bartenders, and, in some cases, waitstaff and host/support staff
-Trains, and, when necessary, disciplines staff
-communicates menu changes and 86’d items to all FOH staff
-uses point-of-sale tracking technology to influence menu planning and pricing
-ensures bar follows all licensing requirements and health and safety guidelines
-addresses customer inquiries and complaints
- Diffuses tense situations between patrons or staff members to prevent possible safety or legal issues, ejecting unruly persons, if needed
-refuses sale of alcohol to any customer showing signs of impairment, assists other FOH staff with refusals as needed
-stays up to date on VT state DLC rules and regulations
