Westview Meadows, Central Vermont’s premier retirement community is looking for a part time Activities Assistant, 30 hours / week 9am – 3pm Tuesday – Saturday. LNA certification preferred, but not required.

Position Summary: The activities assistant plays a critical role in enriching our residents’ lives through socialization and the organization of our daily activities along with one on one interaction. This position encourages creativity, management and prioritization skills, and implementation of critical events for residents’ enjoyment. This position works in a team environment with a community of staff who love what they do.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

o Responsible for ensuring that the emotional, recreational, and social needs of the residents are met and maintained on an individual basis.

o Assists in planning and promoting recreation based on the needs and interests of the customer.

o Encourages social communication through group recreation.

o Provides programs in all recreation component areas on an individual and group basis.

o Assists customers with participation in religious programs.

o Assists customers with leisure recreation.

o Engages and motivates Residents resulting in program participation.

o Informs Residents of upcoming activities and maintains a current schedule of events on the bulletin board.

o Greets new Residents and families making a special effort to include and engage them in activities and introduce them to others in the community with similar interests and backgrounds.

o Assists in planning parties and activities as well as decorating the community according to the season and/or holiday throughout the years as well as planning monthly birthday parties to honor residents.

o Covers reception desk, when needed as scheduled.

o Assists Activity Coordinator in enlisting the services of volunteers to aid the activities program if applicable.

o Adhere to and carry out all Company policies and procedures.

o Report on-the-job injuries to a supervisor before the end of the day on the day an injury occurs.

o Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with coworkers, Residents/families, and visitors.

o Promote the community in a positive way

o Promote teamwork in providing highest quality customer service to residents, families and visitors

o Be available for on-call Community emergency situations.

o May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience acceptable. Able to write simple correspondence. Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Physical Demands Physically able to move at least 25 lbs. without assistance. Physically able to bend, reach, and work in small areas. Physically able to push and pull equipment and furnishings. Physically able to stand for long periods of time.
