Nature & scope

The Nurse Manager of Harbor Village (Allen Harbor) works closely under the direction of the Wellness Director to assure Resident Services including coordination and supervision of personal care, medication services, staff training and supervision are completed on a day-to-day basis as required by state regulations and Harbor Village Senior Living policies and procedures.

The Nurse Manager works closely under the direction of the Wellness Director to assure an environment which is homelike safe, and supports Resident Rights. The Nurse Manager works closely with families and providers to assure good communication and continuity of care.

Minimum eligibility requirements

Licensed Nurse (RN or LPN/LVN), in good standing with State Licensing Authority.

Experience of 3-5 years or more in the care of senior adults and adults with cognitive decline is preferred.

Must be able to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, community and State officials and general public.

Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.

Must demonstrate the ability to work responsibly as a team member as well as an individual.

Must be honest, fair, dependable, respect confidentiality and the rights and privacy of others.

Previous supervisory and/or management experience in a related healthcare setting.

Must have exceptional organizational skills and ability to re-prioritize daily tasks in order to accommodate fluctuating needs of the resident and community.

Must have strong documentation skills.

Must have experience in training and staff development.

Must have the ability to develop systems for monitoring resident health conditions and for ensuring efficient and safe delivery of resident care.

Must pass a criminal background check.

Essential functions

Clinical

Ensure sound infection control practices are in place that promotes a healthy environment.

Work with the Wellness Director to assure the development, implementation, modification and communication and timely completion of all resident assessments and customized service plans.

Participate in resident and family care conferences.

Assists as liaison between resident, family, physician and other health care providers regarding health care issues.

Ensure that changes in resident condition are evaluated, monitored, documented and that effective interventions are implemented.

Perform nursing procedures within the scope of practice as allowed by state law and in compliance with Harbor Village.

Provide oversight of the medication management systems and ensure that medications are dispensed in a safe and effective manner, that MARS are accurate and complete and that all medications are properly stored and discontinued.

Maintain an accurate inventory of all wellness supplies and follow established purchasing protocols.

Review resident records on a regular basis and ensure that documentation accurately addresses the healthcare issues, including identified concerns, interventions and outcomes, of all residents.

Maintains a good relationship with the oversight agency and staff.

Assures ongoing compliance with regulatory rules and assures survey readiness on a daily basis.

Ensure that resident care is provided in a safe and effective manner, while consistently maintaining resident dignity, choice, privacy and respect.

Develop and monitor the scheduling of all wellness staff.

Recruiting and hiring of care employees and licensed nurses.

Maintains a good relationship and communication system with the Executive Director.
