Lead heavy equipment mechanic

Our family owned lumber mill in Bristol is looking for an experienced heavy equipment mechanic to be our lead fleet mechanic. Our fleet manager is having his job redefined so he will devoting a lot of his energy to coordinating overall daily operations, so we are looking for someone to take the lead in maintaining our rolling stock.

A successful candidate will be experienced in working on trucks, trailers and forklifts, well organized and capable of dealing with a wide variety of maintenance issues that might come in the door. If you have a CDL that is helpful but not required. Familiarity with diesel engines, heavy duty truck mechanical and electrical systems and the general functions of hydraulic systems are important in order to diagnose the majority of maintenance issues. Good people skills are important, as is a strong focus on safety. Major work, such as engine rebuilds and transmission repairs, are typically sent out for repairs. Our goal is for the fleet to always be in good condition, so the fleet can operate safely and productively.

You must be physically fit and able to work standing on your feet for extended periods of time. You must be able to both lift and push/pull 50 pounds regularly throughout the day. While part of every day is dedicated to working on the computer to enter data into our maintenance program, ordering parts and looking for information on the internet, roughly 2/3 of every day will be spent in hands-on work.

We offer competitive wages, health insurance, a uniform package, a 401K plan with an employer match and other benefits.
