The Vermont Interpreter Referral Service (VIRS) is a program that links American Sign Language Interpreters with the scheduling needs of consumers. VIRS is a program with the Vermont Center for Independent Living
The VIRS Program Specialist position provides administrative and clerical support, including the following:
⢠Email and telephone/video phone communications with interpreters, Deaf consumers and businesses
⢠Schedule assignments and enter data in scheduling database.
⢠Maintenance of confidential records,
⢠Work with the VIRS Coordinator to provide outreach and education to the Deaf community, requestors, and interpreters.â¯â¯
Ideal candidate must understand Deaf Culture and be fluent using ASL at or near native-user proficiency.â¯â¯
This 30 hour a week position in Montpelier, VT, pays $16.00/hr, and is open to the VCIL benefit package including: 14.5 paid holidays; 2 week vacation time; health insurance, 100% dental, vision, life insurance, 10 sick days after accrual; up to 3 personal days; 3 bereavement days.
