Position: Experienced Finish Carpenter
Compensation: $30 to $40 per hour
Time: 40 hours per week; M-F 7:30 – 3:30
Location: Typically within 20 miles of Thetford Center, VT, occasionally up to 40 miles.
Benefits: 80 hours vacation time, 4 paid holidays, retirement plan, life and disability insurance, tool allowance, training/education allowance, volunteer time off.
Tasks (what you will be doing on a daily basis):
- Install baseboard and window & door casing
- Install finish stair treads and risers
- Install wood flooring
- Install prehung doors
- Install reclaimed doors (fabricate jambs, mortise hinges, etc)
- Install cabinets and vanities
- Install floating/bracketed shelves
- Install paint-grade cleated plywood shelving
- Install bath hardware
- Install crown molding
Typical materials: primed pine 1x and 5/4x; pine shiplap, hardwood flooring, factory cabinets
Required Skills (skills you must have to do this job):
- Scribing (e.g. scribing baseboard to floor, scribing cabinet stiles to walls, etc)
- Coping
- Work efficiently without sacrificing quality
- Understand sequencing of finish trades to avoid inefficient workflow
- Avoiding re-work – do it right the first time
- Drywall patching repairs
- Simple framing projects
Additional Skills (nice but not required):
- Fabricate custom built-ins and shelving
- Install newel posts, balusters, and hand rails
- Timber framing
