Apple Island Resort, located in South Hero, VT, is looking for two part-time Custodians/Housekeepers. This position maintains the cleanliness and hygiene standards of Apple Island Resort, ensuring that all guests and staff enjoy a clean, safe, and pleasant environment.
The schedule for this position is a Mon-Thu or a F-Su 24 hour/wk shift.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Bathroom Maintenance:
a. Thoroughly clean and disinfect all restrooms, ensuring all surfaces, fixtures, floors, and mirrors are spotless.
b. Refill bathroom supplies, such as toilet paper and soap dispensers.
2. Laundry Area Upkeep:
a. Clean and sanitize laundry areas, ensuring washers, dryers, and folding areas are free from dirt and debris.
b. Empty lint traps and wipe down machines regularly.
3. Community Center Care:
a. Dust, sweep, mop, and vacuum all areas of the community center.
b. Clean designated windows and mirrors to maintain clarity and shine.
c. Arrange library furniture and decor to their designated places, ensuring a welcoming environment.
4. Office Cleanliness:
a. Ensure the resort office is clean and tidy, including dusting, vacuuming, wiping down surfaces, and cleaning windows as needed.
b. Clean the office restroom, ensuring it is well-maintained and dispensers filled.
c. Empty trash bins and replace liners as necessary.
5. Floor Maintenance in Buildings:
a. Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in all designated areas, ensuring they are free from dirt, debris, and stains.
b. Attend to any spills immediately to prevent accidents and damage. See Supervisor if deep cleaning is required.
6. Waste Management:
a. Empty and clean trash cans in all designated areas, replacing liners as necessary.
b. Properly dispose of waste in the designated disposal areas and ensure recycling is separated correctly. If needed, Host can assist with waste removal.
7. General Maintenance:
a. Report any damages or repairs needed in the areas of responsibility.
8. Flexibility & Collaboration:
a. Be open to taking on additional cleaning tasks or areas as needed.
b. Work collaboratively with Supervisor and team, communicating any concerns or needs related to cleaning supplies or equipment.
9. Qualifications:
a. Prior experience in a custodial or janitorial role is beneficial.
b. Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining cleanliness standards.
c. Ability to work independently and efficiently.
d. Basic knowledge of cleaning products and their proper application.
e. Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks, handle cleaning equipment, and lift to 5 to 10 lbs.
f. A genuine desire to enhance the cleanliness and hygiene of the resort for the benefit of all guests and staff.
Benefits: Benefits include a site at the resort for $500/month (bring your own RV), or possible housing for the right candidate. Apple Island Employees also get use of the resort amenities, including a pool/hot tub, community center activities, boat rentals at our marina and golf at our 9-hole course. An end of season bonus is provided for those employees that start on May 1 and stay until Oct 20.
