FHI 360 is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position Health Specialist.Project Description:The Office of Head Start Region XI Training and Technical Assistance (T/TA) network provides local grantees with high-quality, sustained, and intensive training and technical assistance. T/TA is provided to individual grantees, to clusters of grantees with similar interests, and at state and regional events. Region XI grantees includes American Indian/Alaska Native grantees in 26 states across the country.Position Description:The Health Specialist will serve as a resource to other TTA specialists on comprehensive health services, including mental health and environmental health and safety, in accordance with the requirements of the Head Start Program Performance Standards across the birth to five spectrum.Responsibilities:

Serve as a liaison between regional and central OHS and the National Center on Health and Wellness and other agencies relevant to the work of the Regional Office;

Participate in case conferences about individual grantees, at the request of the regional office;

Serve as a resource to other TTA specialists on strategies for engaging families around issues on health;

Serve as a point of dissemination to program and TTA specialists about health data specific to grantees;

Aggregate and analyze state and regional health data from a variety of sources to identify emerging trends and patterns impacting Head Start and Early Head Start grantees;

Provide training on topics related to health to regional office staff, grantees and state partners, at the direction of the Regional Office;

Provide direct TTA to grantees, as directed by the Regional Office; and

Incorporate other tasks specific to health reflective of evolving national priorities as presented by the Office of Head Start, National Centers, Regional Office, and/or aggregate regional assessment data.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Education, Psychology, social sciences, or any other related field.

Typically requires a minimum of 8+ years of managing data collection and Head Start technical assistance experience.

Understanding of how tribal health systems work and previous experience working and increasing participation required.

Proficiency with database management software and on-line search tools required.

Has sensitivity to cultural diversity and understanding of the political, contextual, and ethical issues in assigned areas.

Articulate and professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive fashion with clients and staff.

Experience working in a non-governmental organization (NGO).

Position will require at least 50% of travel.
