Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the retail industry, located in Ashland, Virginia. This role will involve maintaining and updating financial records, handling tax matters, and conducting month-end and year-end closures. The successful candidate will also provide advice on financial issues and ensure compliance with new accounting policies.Responsibilities: Accurately categorize and post transactions in the general ledger, including assets, liabilities, and expenses Handle tax payments and returns, and keep up-to-date with tax policies Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records Facilitate month-end and year-end closure processes Prepare necessary documents for audits and ensure they are ready for review Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to analyze transactions Maintain and periodically update accounting records and files Provide advice to clients on financial matters via email or phone Implement new accounting policies and confirm compliance with rules and regulations Meet with clients to discuss and resolve confidential accounting issues. Requirements Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar. Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR). Experience with bank reconciliations. Solid understanding of the general ledger. Ability to prepare and post journal entries. Experience with month-end close processes. Proficient in using NetSuite software for accounting tasks. Experience with Oracle accounting software. Knowledge of QuickBooks for accounting purposes. Familiarity with SAP accounting software.
