Southwest Virginia author looking for artwork for a book cover. Respond with a portfolio of your artwork suitable for a children's book cover design. I am not a fan of anime style art. I am not looking for realism, either. I am more of a fan of Shel Silverstein or Don Hertzfeldt simplicity where the artist conveys great emotion without complex technique, but no stick figures (if you know and are familiar with Herdzfeldt, you know what I mean).
The main character is an autistic child and I want the artist to nail that type of joyous, youthful smile on the cover. I am looking for a detailed color cover and ten plus interior black and white illustrations. Most likely what I am going for is a colored pencil and pen form, though I am willing to be persuaded differently. I would prefer that the artist read the book (40,000 words) and I would pay for you to read it.
