Established contracting firm involved in heavy excavation and site development near Charlottesville, Virginia seeking a Controller who is capable of becoming fully involved in the administration and support of Company’s operations. This is a hands-on position involving accounting and administrative functions with one clerical/administrative/accounting assistant. This is a full-time, on-site in office position working in a small-office environment.
Responsibilities:
- Accounting – Perform or manage all accounting functions including General and subsidiary ledgers, Job and Equipment Cost, Account reconciliations, Journal Entries, Monthly Financial Statements, Fixed Assets;
- Preparation of Business Licenses, Persona Property and Sales and Use Tax returns;
- Managing banking, commercial insurance and bonding;
- Preparation of budgets;
- Oversees HR including 401(k), employee health, life, disability, dental and vision insurances;
- Oversees P/R, A/R and A/P processing, and collections
- Working with outside CPA in preparation of annual financial statements and income tax returns.
Requirements:
- Accounting degree;
- 5 years of direct accounting experience with at least 2 years of construction accounting experience, encompassing most or all responsible functions listed above;
- Sage 300 CRE experience desired, Excel proficiency;
- Willing to authorize a background check and pass a drug test.
