At The Dutch Door Cafe, we’re excited to bring an exceptional breakfast pastry spot to Richmond, Va Although we haven’t opened our doors yet, we’re dedicated to crafting exceptional baked goods using seasonal high quality ingredients. We’re searching for a passionate and skilled Head Baker to help shape our menu and set the standard for our bakery.
Position Overview:
As our Head Baker, you will play a crucial role in establishing our baking operations. With your advanced knowledge of breads, laminated doughs, and rolls, you’ll create signature offerings that will delight our future customers. You’ll also lead our team in building a collaborative and innovative baking environment from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities:
Create an enticing selection of breakfast pastries, incorporating seasonal ingredients and unique flavor profiles.
Set high standards for quality and consistency in all baked products, ensuring adherence to best practices in food safety and sanitation.
Collaborate with the team to design and refine our initial menu, including recipe development and tasting sessions.
Train and mentor new bakers and staff, instilling a culture of excellence and teamwork.
Manage ingredient inventory and sourcing to ensure we launch with the freshest and highest quality materials.
Qualifications:
5+ years of professional baking experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
Advanced knowledge of bread-making, laminated doughs, and breakfast pastries.
Strong understanding of baking techniques, fermentation processes, and ingredient interactions.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a passion for mentoring others.
Creative mindset with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Ability to thrive in a start-up environment and adapt to evolving challenges.
