Summary:
The Facilities & Grounds Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency of the SPCA’s facilities and grounds. This leadership role involves coordinating maintenance and landscaping efforts, overseeing vendor relationships, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The Facilities & Grounds Manager plays a vital role in maintaining a welcoming and functional environment for animals, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement maintenance plans for buildings, grounds, and equipment, while promptly triaging and coordinating repairs to ensure timely resolution and minimal disruption to operations.
Conduct regular facility inspections to proactively address maintenance needs, ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations, and promptly identify and resolve any hazards or incidents.
Oversee all landscaping tasks—including mowing, trimming, planting, mulching, and snow removal—while ensuring pathways, parking lots, and outdoor areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
Schedule and coordinate inspections, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs for buildings, grounds, and fleet vehicles with external contractors, while obtaining quotes and overseeing vendor work to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
Maintain inventory of maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies, along with detailed records of maintenance activities, expenses, and safety issues for senior management review.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
3–5 years’ experience in facility or grounds maintenance; supervisory experience a plus
Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general repair
Proficient with tools, safety procedures, and maintenance best practices
Strong problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills
Physically able to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in various conditions
Valid driver’s license required
Passion for animal welfare and commitment to the mission of the SPCA.
Work Environment:
Both indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions and exposure to maintenance-related hazards
Occasional night, weekend, or on-call shifts required, especially for emergencies or special events
