Assistant for young woman with autism in family home

Family with young adult disabled daughter (autism, epilepsy, nonverbal) seeking help on evenings and (especially) weekends for friendship and activities, as well as help with meals, dressing, bathing, meds. Looking for someone with enthusiasm and creativity for age-appropriate activities. Location is in our family home, with parents. Dog and cat are also here.

We are looking for a creative, encouraging and patient person who can help find fun things to do in and around Charlottesville. Our location is near UVA. Seizure safety is a priority- you will need to be beside her at all time in order to prevent injuries from falls/seizures.

Hours are 9a-10p on weekends (can work entire 13 hour day, or a portion), and 5p-10p on weekdays. Looking for a commitment of 2-4 days/week; choice of days can be flexible, but weekends are needed most.

No experience required. We provide all training. A car and background check is required, as well as references. Must be 18+. Ability to document activities on computer required for each shift. Immediate start. Six month commitment minimum desired, but hopefully long term!

Potential for health insurance through the Arc of the Piedmont, if you work 30 hours/week. Orientation is $17/hour, first shift is $19/hour. With additional training, $21/hour.
