Position: Full time Church of Christ Preacher
Responsible To: God in all matters; Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, the head of the church; Elders for spiritual matters; Deacons for service matters
Reports To: Elders

Principal Responsibilities
The principal responsibilities for the Preacher are grouped into three areas: effectively preach
the Word, uplift the members and guests, and work well with the Elders and Deacons.
I. Effectively Preaching the Word
1) Responsible for the preaching ministry at Fredericksburg.
2) Responsible for presenting the Word of God to the community "for equipping of the saints
for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ" (Eph. 4:11-12). This will be
done through the following venues:
a) Sunday AM and PM lessons from the pulpit
b) Teach up to one class at a time as agreed to with the elders
II. Description of Responsibilities
1) Lead the midweek service devotional
2) Maintain a healthy, communicative, cooperative, and collaborative relationship with the
Elders, Deacons and church community
a) May include counseling, officiating weddings and funerals, visiting the sick and
bereaved, and attending church community functions
b) Be involved in various church ministries and accepting of essential tasks as delegated
or assigned by the Elders and Deacons
3) Develop and maintain a positive identity and level of involvement within the greater
Fredericksburg community that promotes God's will in local evangelistic opportunities
4) Meet with the Elders once per month to discuss any activities or concerns as they relate to
the Fredericksburg church
5) Attend and actively participate in monthly Elders/Deacons meeting
6) Establish and maintain regular hours of the day to be available at the church building
7) Be available to conduct other tasking as agreed to with the Elders
8) Be available at other times via cell phone
III. Goal Plan
The Preacher is expected to develop a viable written annual goal plan which reflects his
relationship to God that includes goals, strategies and critical steps for achieving success;
a) The goal plan must reflect a willingness to exhibit diversity of thought and behavior and a
spirit of collaboration with the Elders, Deacons, and the church community.
b) The goal plan should reflect a healthy strategy to plan and lead worship in authentic,
Biblical and relevant ways.
