Responsibilities
Assist with driver hiring and compliance process
Manage safety inspection lane
Provide direction and guidance to location trainers
Review materials in a timely manner in order to maintain scheduled sessions
Investigate accidents, incidents, and work-related injuries and assist in determining fault/preventability
Perform road tests to assess and qualify new hire drivers
Prepare and submit accident-related compliance forms, maintains files and enters in system
Provide training to driver and non-driver personnel and other safety-related issues
Keep updated with and communicate regulatory compliance requirements to driver workforce
Maintain compliance with all regulations related to a DOT "Safety Sensitive" position
Perform driver observations of driver performance
Supervise employees with safety and/or driver hiring or training responsibilities
Provide various reports and analyze safety trends
Overseeing, monitoring and reporting of all fleet safety activities, equipment maintenance and compliance of company drivers and equipment according to DOT regulations
Reports to Director of HSSE & HR
Other duties as assigned
Experience and Skills Required:
Valid Class A CDL required
Prior dump experience preferred
Extensive knowledge of Pre and Post trip inspection of commercial motor vehicles
2-3 years minimum transportation or safety management-related experience
Demonstrate a thorough understanding and knowledge of DOT rules and regulations to maintain a high standard of compliance and safety
Ability to understand, interpret and administer DOT, OSHA and other applicable regulations
Effective presentation and communication skills
Must have experience working with electronic logging devices, Omnitracs preferred
High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations regarding safety and environmental issues
Computer literacy with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Consistent attendance and punctuality
Possess working vehicle for travel in a service area
Must be available remotely after hours to assist mitigate accidents, incidents & other related emergencies if needed.
