About the Role:
SMT Services LLC is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fleet/Driver Manager to join our growing transportation team. The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of fleet operations, ensuring maximum efficiency, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the company’s fleet to ensure optimal uptime, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for all vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
- Supervise drivers, mechanics, and support staff to maintain operational excellence.
- Track and analyze fleet performance, fuel efficiency, and operating costs; identify areas for cost reduction and performance improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all DOT, state, and federal transportation regulations.
- Manage vehicle acquisition, registration, insurance, and licensing processes.
- Maintain accurate records, including service logs, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Coordinate and respond to emergency repairs and breakdowns in an efficient and timely manner.
- Collaborate with senior management to align fleet operations with overall business strategy.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in fleet management or a related field (transportation, logistics, or trucking industry preferred).
- Strong knowledge of diesel trucks, preventive maintenance practices, and repair procedures.
- Thorough understanding of DOT compliance and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL Class A preferred).
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Experience:
OTR/CDL/DOT experience: 4 years (required)
