Description: Seeking a tutor/educator to assist, supervise and supplement Amherst County Public School hybrid school year.
The position located in a Madison Heights family home working with two students two or three days per week. Hours and days are to be determined based on personal scheduling requirements and wage will be based on experience and skills.
Both students require assistance in time management, organization, comprehension of lesson and test instructions. The tutor will need to review instructions and assist with proof reading and editing assignments and papers.
Student #1: is a young male entering 9th grade at Amherst County High School. In addition to the above, he will require assistance with vocabulary, spelling, grammar and history.
Student #2: is a young woman entering 7th grade at Monelison Middle School. In addition to the above, she will require additional assistance with mathematics.
The goal is to convert the COVID-19 pandemic disruption into an opportunity to expand their educational opportunities and academic excellence. The perfect candidate will be able to personalize the learning process by connecting the subjects to the student’s personal interests, teaching to their strengths and strengthening their weaknesses while helping the students develop strategies to address their weaknesses and build organization and study skills.
The tutor/educator must be able to communicate well with both students and guardian.
Additional compensation is available for other special skills such as the ability to introduce a foreign language, fine arts or music. Additional materials will be provided as needed.
