Job Description – Maintenance Mechanic
The Virginia Distillery Co., an American Single Malt Whisky distillery located half an hour south of Charlottesville, VA, is seeking a Maintenance Multi-craft Mechanic. This supports our Production Team and will strive to achieve our relentless pursuit of operations excellence.

Key Responsibilities
The Maintenance Multi-Craft Mechanic is responsible for the general maintenance and repair of all production equipment, systems and facilities.
The maintenance employee may be involved in new equipment and machinery installation, equipment and facilities upgrades and redesigns and is involved in the recommendation and selection of new equipment and facilities changes.
Develop, implement, and sustain preventative maintenance schedules for equipment with the goal of extending the life and reliability of equipment assets
Work closely with on-site team to support distillery, bottling, Visitors Center, and facilities goals
Determine maintenance needs of facility equipment, keeping an efficient parts supply for equipment readiness
Maintain tools and equipment in a safe, clean, and orderly manner
Operate material handling equipment as required
Perform vehicle check and maintenance
Regular and predictable attendance at the work site, this role requires regular presence at the distillery production facilities
This role requires lifting up to 40 lbs. occasionally
Qualifications & Desired Experience
Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of the installation, maintenance, and repair of manufacturing equipment such as motors, pumps, conveying systems, hydraulics and pneumatics.
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and software systems
Machine repair – disassembles machines, finds worn or broken parts, makes decisions as to what is wrong with machine, cleans machine, has bad parts repaired or orders new parts. Reassembles the machine. Tests the machine to make sure it is operable. Works on machinery powered by hydraulic, electric, air, etc.
Strong electrical abilities and knowledge of both single and three-phase electrical systems and the ability to diagnose basic electrical problems and replace motors and equipment
Knowledge of PLC and facilities systems such as lighting, water and plumbing and the ability to maintain and repair these systems
Self-motivated and operates with a great sense of urgency and ability to drive progress towards company goals
Compensation
This is a salaried full-time position with benefits and is eligible for participation in our bonus and Employee Equity Program. The role will be serving our production operations in Lovingston, VA. Being on-site full time in Lovingston, VA is required for this role.
