Overview:
We have an upcoming prevailing wage project at Naval Station Norfolk and are urgently seeking skilled masons to join our team. Qualified masons who can pass a background check can earn up to $32.67 per hour.
We are looking for dedicated professionals with a strong background in masonry and construction, ideally with at least five years of experience. Candidates will be responsible for tasks such as laying block (CMU and ground face), setting rebar, pouring grout, and working with masonry materials like wire and anchors. Attention to quality, safety, and teamwork is essential, as is the ability to take direction from the foreman.
Responsibilities:
-Lay CMU, ground face block, and other masonry materials in accordance with specifications and blueprints.
-Use hand tools effectively to cut, shape, and finish masonry materials.
-Collaborate with other construction professionals to meet project deadlines.
-Maintain a clean, organized work area and adhere to safety protocols.
Requirements:
-Must pass a background check and obtain a badge for base access.
-Reliable transportation is required.
-At least 5 years of proven experience as a commercial mason.
-Proficiency in masonry tools and techniques.
-Preferred: Knowledge of structural masonry practices.
-Bonus: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings.
-Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
-Physical stamina to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy materials for extended periods.
-Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
